Auto Geocode

New addresses need to be Geocoded before they will display correctly on the map. Until the Geocode is updated, all new addresses will have the default Geocode of 0.00/0.00. There are two primary methods to updating Geocodes: "Auto Geocode" for updating multiple Geocodes simultaneously or "Change Geocode" for a single address.

1. Click "Tools" in the upper left corner of the Route Manager and select "Auto Geocode" to bring up the Auto Geocode Window.

In the Select dropdown box, choose "Missing" to update only Geocodes that are set to 0.00/0.00, or choose "All" to update every Geocode.

To update only the Geocodes for a selected Route, click the "Filter by Route" checkbox and select the desired route. To update Geocodes for every address in the system, do not click the checkbox.

Be sure to update the Default City and Default State. Many addresses exist in multiple cities and states. If multiple locations are found for an address, Auto Geocode will use the location closest to the default city.
2. Once all appropriate options are chosen, click "Find". This will find all addresses that will be affected by the selected operation. If this list looks correct, click "Auto Geocode". The Geocodes are saved to the record automatically. This may take several minutes. Click "Close" once finished.

NOTE: Sometimes the Geocode will not appear to have updated upon returning to the Route Manager screen. If this occurs, close and re-open the Route Manager to refresh the data.
